TVETA Director General Dr. Kipkirui Langat today held a meeting with a team from the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) who paid him a visit to discuss the registration and accreditation of the Institute for Meteorological Training and Research in line with the TVET Act.
The institute, which is currently offering training under the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), intends to register with TVETA and align itself with the National Qualification Framework.
The KMD’s Director of Meteorological Services Dr David Gikungu said the Institute is seeking accreditation from TVETA to fulfil its mandate of offering training in the meteorological and hydrological services locally and within the region.
Dr. Langat assured the team of TVETA’s full support in ensuring they have acquired the accreditation and the legal documents that will align the Institute with the national qualification framework, hence allowing them to train, examine, and award certification in their areas of specialization.
