The Principal Secretary for the State Department for Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Dr. Esther Muoria, and TVET Authority Director General Dr. Kipkirui Langat today visited Bandari Maritime Academy for a stakeholder engagement forum in Mombasa.
The PS acknowledged the strategic importance of Bandari Maritime Academy for the county and East Africa region and implored management to leverage on their advantage to supply the Maritime industry with qualified and skilled manpower. The PS promised to engage the Ministry of ICT and facilitate the institution to be equipped with 100 Virtual Desktop Infrastructures (Jitume Lab) to enable the institution to train youths in digital skills in the maritime sector.
The PS also directed Mr. Archer Arina, who is a Board director of the Academy and the PS representative to expedite the finalization and actualization of an MoU between the Bandari Maritime Academy and Kenya Coast National Polytechnic. The MoU will facilitate seamless sharing of facilities, equipment, training programs, and human resources.
The Director General Dr Langat committed to facilitating the signing of the MoU between the two institutions and continuously supporting the institution to offer quality training.
