Deputy President Dr. William Ruto, on Friday presided over the 9th Graduation Ceremony at Rift Valley Training Institute (RVTTI).

In attendance was the Principal Secretary for Vocational and Technical Training Dr Kevit Desai, the Director General TVETA Dr Kipkirui Langat, and RVTTI Principal Dr Edwin Tarno among other guests.

Speaking during the ceremony, DP Ruto said the government is committed to expanding access to quality education and reforming technical training curriculum to match the labour market demands.

This, he said, would provide the youth with adequate competencies, employability skills and work experience

He said the deliberate investment in technical education sector not only scales up Kenya’s talent pool but also establishes the requisite environment for implementing and attaining sustainable and inclusive economic growth through the Big Four Agenda and vision 2030. He said that for the first time TVET institutions have a higher enrollment compared to Universities.

During the event RVTTI was officially launched as a CBET assessment centre for recognition of prior learning.

The DP asked TVET Authority to the provide the necessary framework for recognition of prior learning (RPL).
