The Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) Department of Standards Development has developed standards that will be used for the auditing of vocational and technical institutions countrywide.
During the internal validation exercise involving the TVETA staff, the Assistant Director Standards Development Peris Njoroge said that the input from the staff is the first step in the long validation process that will also involve external stakeholders.
Just like the law-making process, the proposed standards will go through a number of steps before they are gazette as the official standards to be used for audit purposes in technical institutions.
The proposed standards are set to ensure that all the TVET institutions in the country are providing the very best training based on international standards and are reflective of the labour market demands.
In two weeks’ time, the standards will also be tabled before the external stakeholders such as government agencies in the TVET sector, technical Institutions and private stakeholders for their input and validation.
The two-day consultative meeting had representation from different departments at the Authority.
