The Director General TVET Authority, Dr. Kipkirui Langat today held a meeting with the CEO of Kenya Water Institute Dr. Solomon Letangule to discuss on areas of collaboration between the two organizations.
The possible areas of collaboration that were discussed included; the Dual training model, Continuous Professional Development for Trainers, climate change mitigation, collaborative research in water technology, and the participation of Kenya Water Institute in the Worldskills competitions in the water technology skill areas.
To firm up the areas identified, they agreed to jointly develop a concept on the collaboration and specifically on the acquisition of competition kits for skill areas in water technology to enable the institute to participate in the WorldSkills competitions.
The meeting was attended by Solutions Engineer East Africa Festo Didactic Ms. Faith Langat, who is also the Worldskills Kenya Technical Delegate, Mr. Leonard Makokha the Director of Research, and Mr. William Oduor a Water Technology expert from the Kenya Water Institute. Others were TVETA’s Director of Accreditation and Outreach Services Mr. Fred Oanda, Mrs. Josephine Kasera, Director of Standards Development, Compliance and Enforcement, and Mr. Timothy Katiambo, Director of Strategy, Planning, and Research.
Later the Director General TVET Authority also held a meeting with Mr. Snehar Shah, the CEO of Moringa School an ICT Training institution, and discussed how the school can also participate in WorldSkills competitions in the ICT-related skill areas. The meeting was attended by Solutions Engineer East Africa Festo Didactic Ms. Faith Langat-the Technical Delegate Worldskills Kenya and TVETA’s Assistant Director Accreditation, who is also the Coordinator WorldSkills Kenya.
